 | Your Health & Aloe Vera By Sue McGarrigle FLP's Nutrition Consultant |
Have you ever wondered if you and your children are getting a 'well balanced diet?' Well you might think that you are but a number of surveys have highlighted that we are not even reaching the Recomended Daily Allowances (RDA's) of various essential vitamins and minerals. Reasons for this may include:
Many foods including fruits and vegetables can be depleted of valuable vitamins and minerals due to:
Storage and cooking Processing/refining and depleted soils
Vitamin & Mineral requirements increase if you are exposed to anti nutrients such as:
Stress Caffeine & Alcohol Cigarette Smoke Chemicals, Pollution and drugs
Other factors may include illness, pregnancy, menopause, and regular exercise or being aged 50+.
Tell-tale signs of poor healh include:
Fatigue Poor Skin Headaches Joint Aches and Pains Digestive Disturbances Allergies Hormonal Imbalances
Giving yourself only one particular nutrient may help but an overall broad spectrum supply of the essential nutrients could help to address any deficiencies that may lead to more serious problems.
Aloe Vera is a natural plant compound, its many ingredients having a synergistic, energising and beneficial effect throughout the body providing the wealth of nutrients needed to back up any shortfall in the diet on a daily basis.
Many studies show that Aloe has multiple benefits particularly supporting gastro-intestinal health, good immunity and healthy skin, its nutrients helping the detoxification process of the body and promotion of optimum health.

Supplement Your Health With FLP |
According to the HSIS (Health Supplements Information Service) there are certain groups of people that would benefit from supplementation as listed below:
(For more information on each product, click on the picture to find out more.) |
Athletes
With a rigorous exercise routine it may be useful to increase the intake of antioxidants such as Vitamin A (beta-carotene), Vitamins C, E and bioflavanoids as there is an increased production of free radicals in the body. Antioxidants neutralise potentially damaging free radicals. Athletes also need to consume adequate minerals and essential fatty acids.
Take: Forever Freedom (contains Vitamin C), A-Beta-CarE, Nature-Min, Arctic-Sea, Forever Bee Pollen and Forever Lycium Plus.
|
Convalescents
Convalescents are less likely to be eating a balanced diet and since they may also need extra help to aid recovery, supplementation can be beneficial. The average number of days of illness of long term patients was shown to be reduced by 50% in a year when given a multivitamin supplement.
Take: Forever Lite, Aloe Vera Gel, Absorbent-C, A-Beta-CarE, Nature-Min, Forever Bee Pollen and Forever Bee Propolis.
|
Elderly
The over 65s are less efficient at absorbing essential vitamins and minerals which can result in the immune response being compromised. Less food generally may be eaten and surveys indicate that the majority of elderly people are not reaching the reference intakes let alone 'optimum' levels of many micro nutrients. Take: Forever Freedom, Forever B12 Plus with Folic Acid, Ginkgo Plus, A-Beta-CarE, Garlic-Thyme, and Nature-Min.

People with busy and stressful lives
Busy lives can lead to skipped meals and as such it may be difficult to always eat the recomended five daily portions of fruit and vegetables, maintain good immuntiy, good digestion, weight and energy levels. A multivitamin and mineral regime can help ensure essential nutrients are provided at these times. Our nutritional drink Forever Lite can also provide a wealth of nutrients and is available in three delicious flavours. Take: Forever Lite, Aloe Vera Gel, Absorbent-C, A-Beta-CarE, Forever Bee Pollen, Fields of Green and Arctic-Sea.

Menopausal Women
The menopause causes changes in hormonal balance and all women need to be as healthy as possible and aim at optimum nutrition in order to manage this event with ease. Certain supplements are highly beneficial and are known to help with menopausal symptoms. Take: Aloe Berry Nectar, Forever Royal Jelly, Gin-Chia, Nature-Min, A-Beta-CarE, Fields of Green and Absorbent-C.
|
Preconceptual & Pregnant Women
Scientific evidence shows that taking a folic acid supplement at preconception and during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy can slightly reduce the incidence of neural tube defects in the feotus, such as spina bifida. Omega 3 fatty acids from fish are essential for the formation of new tisues and particularly important for the developement of the brain, nervous system and retina. During the last three months of pregnancy there is a rapid accumulation of omega 3 fatty acids in brain and nerve tissue and access to these has potentially long term effects on behaviour and learning. Take: Arctic-Sea, Absorbent-C, Forever B12 Plus with Folic Acid and Nature-Min |
Smokers
Each cigarette smoked depletes some Vitamin C. Studies indicate that smokers require double the amount of Vitamin C compared to non-smokers. Take: Aloe Berry Nectar, Absorbent-C, Lycium Plus, Fields of Green and Garlic-Thyme.
|
Teenagers
This is a time when their immune systems are put under pressure due to school exams, puberty and diet. Stress can directly suppress the immune system so it is important to give teenagers a nutrient rich programme which can help them to combat stress, boost their immune defences and support their hormonal systems. Take: Aloe Berry Nectar or Bits n' Peaches, Forever Bee Pollen, Fields of Green, Garlic-Thyme and Absorbent-C.
|
Vegetarians and Vegans
Vegetarian or vegan diets can benefit from supplementation of Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, calcium, iron and zinc. Take: Aloe Vera Gel, Forever B12 Plus with Folic Acid, Nature Min, Forever Bee Pollen and Forever Calcium. (Note: last three may not be suitable for vegans).
|
Women
One in three women suffer from osteoporosis in later years. As well as a diet containing calcium rich foods i.e. green vegetables; supplements of Vitamin D, calcium, and other minerals are beneficial in maintaining bones. Slimmers on diets of less than 1500 kcals/day may require additional vitamins and minerals. Take: Forever Lite, Aloe Berry Nectar, Fields of Green, Arctic-Sea, Nature-Min, Forever Calcium and Forever Royal Jelly.
|
Young Children
Children can have fussy eating periods throughout their lives. In recent years we have seen a dramatic decline in the quality of their diets. A multivitamin / mineral can be especially beneficial at these times. Take: Bits and Peaches, Forever Kids, Absorbent-C and Garlic-Thyme.
